Procedures/Conditions

Teeth sensitivity can happen for a variety of reasons. It could be that the gums have receded slightly and the dentin to show which allows anything consumed to reach the sensitive nerve of the tooth. In order to ease the sensitive tooth, we can let you know the a variety of toothpastes and gels available or even recommend a dental procedures that can be used. Let us know if you have a sensitive tooth.

It all starts at home. Brushing twice a day and flossing at least once is the best way to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Keeping these habits up on a continual basis will greatly reduce these problems.

If you notice that your gums are becoming irritated, bleeding or are inflamed you might have gingivitis. This condition is caused when bacteria around your teeth enters your gums. To prevent gingivitis from getting worse, we highly recommend scheduling regular dental check ups. We will teach you how floss properly and how to maintain a healthy oral hygiene.

Periodontal Disease is the later stages of gingivitis. Once gingivitis worsens it is commonly known as a periodontal disease which starts out with minimal symptoms from bacteria surrounding the teeth and entering the gums. Once this occurs, the gums start to feel sore and may even bleed. Some noticeable symptoms may include:

  • Bad Breath
  • Gum Recession
  • Gum Sensitivity to Acidic Foods
  • Abscesses
  • Tooth Pain
  • Tooth Loss

Since a periodontal disease requires immediate attention, we recommend seeing us as soon as possible. We will begin a series of cleanings including, root planing and scaling, laser therapy and some antibiotics. For severe cases, surgery may be necessary.

White fillings, also known as composite are comprised of plastic or glass polymers. These fillings will look and feel very similar to the structure of your current tooth structure and will match the color of the tooth.

Silver fillings, also known as amalgam has been around for a while now. Comprised of a metal alloy, it used to be the only option for fillings. The metal would expand to prevent any bacteria into the tooth once it’s filled.
